在东华大学纺织学院长期从事纺织科学与工程专业的教学科研工作,专长是机织物的成型、结构及其性能。早年毕业于东华大学纺织工程专业,数年后在英国利兹大学获得纺织工程专业的硕士和博士学位。在东华大学纺织学院教授“机织学”课程二十多年,为本科生和研究生(含留学生)开设过双语课程和全英文课程,获得上海市授予的“机织学”全英文教学示范课程的称号。于2021年获得国际知名的英国纺织协会授予的“Fellow of The Textile Institute”称号。同时,在机织物结构与性能关系的研究领域,发表了数十篇研究论文及相关的发明专利。本书是庄教授长期相关教学科研工作积累后编写的著作之一。
