Stephen Buchmann is an entomologist who has spent his entire professional life researching flowering plants and the animals who pollinate them. He is an award-winning writer who has written and co-written many books, among them The Forgotten Pollinators with Gary Paul Nabhan Island Press, 1996 the winner of the PMA Benjamin Franklin Award; Honey Bees Random House Childrens Publishing Group, 2010 recipient of the National Science Teachers Association Outstanding Science Trade Book Award for Young Adults, and Letters from the Hive with Bannng Repplier Bantam Books, 2005. He is a frequent speaker at scientific events, and is often asked to serve as an expert or interviewee for such programs as NPRs Morning Edition and Science Friday. He has appeared on national television and he served as the Chief Scientist for Disneynatures feature film Wings of Life, narrated by Meryl Streep and scheduled for release on Blu-ray DVD in April, 2013. Buchmann holds a doctorate in Entomology from the University of California at Davis. He lives in Tucson, AZ.
