PrologueAt the start of 2020， China was hit by the sudden onslaught and breathtaking spread of COVID-19 throughout Hubei Province and the anxiety and stress that came with it. Despite fear over the unknown and tremendous strains weighing on them， a huge group of people courageously stepped forward to fight the novel coronavirus. Attacking with weapons of science and technology，shielding with a solid line of defense， making a breakthrough with the heat of compassion， and protecting lives with great love， they made the people firmly believe victory would come at the right time.The outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic was a major test of China’s national governance system， decision-making mechanisms， and leadership capacity. Under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with General Secretary Xi Jinping at the core， 1.4 billion Chinese people came together as one in an all-out people’s war to contain the virus….As stated by Bruce Aylward， Senior Adviser to the WHO Director-General， “China has rolled out perhaps the most ambitious，agile， and aggressive disease containment effort in history， changing the course of what was a rapidly-escalating and deadly epidemic.The only successful measures we know so far to contain COVID-19 are in China.”
